To Love or Not To Love??

What's Love??

Someone asked the question and everyone has a definition of it. I'll give you mine:

"Love is a gift of self. A voluntary surrender of the heart to another seeking only their happiness."

One of my friends once asked me if love can be controlled, I don't think so. Once you love you have no control of it, there are no conditions and unfortunately make us vulnerable. We are so open to the other that in many cases you can even get hurt. But if you are loved in return it is the most wonderful feeling, it's an exchange of emotions that let us experience Heaven on Earth.

Love begins as a feeling but it's ultimately a decision, it is the only way to make it last a lifetime. Without that decision it won't survive the ups and down of life and the many situations we face in our relationships.

Love is sacrifice for the sake of the other. It is not about me, it's about seeking the other's happiness and we are happy in return. I believe that's why so many relationships fail these days, we are too self centered sometimes. When we take our eyes from us and unto others it is when we are rewarded.

All this talk may seem unreal the first time you read it, way before you have fallen in love for the first time. It even sounds ridiculous but then ‘that’ moment comes and there it is, "love is patient, love is kind, hope all things, believes all things, bear all things..."etc etc (even I read it all, way before my time came....)

"There's always one who loves and one who lets himself be loved.”

Last night I was surfing the net and I found this quote. I know many couples in which are in the exact situation and I wonder, is this, the situation for the big majority?

I once read a fabulous entry in a blog, and it talked about something very similar. It was about men and how they are afraid to put themselves on the line in love. Many settle for the best person available that will make possible at least most of their dreams instead of fighting for the one they love. I don't believe this is something exclusive to men, women do it as well.

Trusting someone with our heart is a dangerous thing if the person is not at the level of commitment that we are. The first time we give it all and when our heart is returned to us, shattered we have that much less to offer to the next person. It is also a little bit harder.

So tell me what you think…. Is it possible for two people to be madly in love for each other and be together just like we always read…..or to love and let go is the new face of love today?

The name of love is still love since the time it existed... Never has it changed... nor will it change...
Its we humans that have changed... have become more selfish... more self-centered (as you said)

If feelings could be controlled by decisions, then the world would have been much worse than hell...
When we fall (or rather rise) in love, the only decision we have in our hands is whether to tell that person u love him/her or not to tell... thats all... there are no other decisions made in love... love is a feeling... not a decision... never a decision...

It is very true that it becomes tough for us to trust another person after u have a shattered heart... but, y do ppl break each other's hearts? Is the reason valid? sometimes it is... sometimes its just a catch 22 situation... can't let go... can't be with... what do u do? hehe... I wish I knew...

yes, it is possible for 2 ppl to be madly in love with each other and sacrifice a lot of things just to keep the other person happy... even if it means that they dont stay together... it hurts... but, thats what love is... isnt it? :)
